About Amber Blossom Tree
A single slender tree rises from the lower centre of the canvas, its dark trunk curving to the right before splitting into thin branches that sweep left across the width of the painting. Hundreds of small white blossoms sit along those branches, each one built from a short, thick dab of paint with a raised edge that catches the light. Behind the tree the background radiates outward in short knife strokes, moving from a bright amber and gold glow at the centre to deep russet and near-black brown at the corners.
The surface is heavily worked: the background strokes are laid like overlapping tiles, so the whole picture has a rough, tactile grain. Its character is warm and decorative, with the crisp white flowers standing well clear of the burnt-orange ground.
Suits a lounge room above a low sofa, a dining wall, or a hallway where the amber glow lifts a darker paint colour. Works with timber furniture, leather, rattan and terracotta or rust cushions.
