About Blue Blossom Tree
A single blossom tree curves up from the lower centre of the canvas, its black and white trunk bending to the right before branching into thin dark limbs that reach almost edge to edge. Hundreds of small cornflower-blue flowers sit along those branches, each one laid down as a separate scoop of thick paint with a dot of yellow at its heart. The background is a warm grey field built from overlapping squares and rectangles, scraped and ridged so the knife marks catch light across the surface.
Quiet and decorative rather than dramatic, it reads as pattern and texture first, with the soft blue flowers lifting off the grey blockwork behind them.
Suits a living room above a low sideboard, a main bedroom over the bedhead, or a hallway that needs colour without noise. The grey background sits well with concrete, pale timber and linen upholstery, and the blue picks up navy or denim cushions. Good in rooms with soft side light that rakes across the raised paint.
