About Blue Blossom Willow
A single tree curves up from the lower centre of a wide canvas, its dark brown trunk bending to the right before splitting into long, thin branches that arch outward and trail down like a willow. Each branch carries rows of small oval leaves painted in pale blue and cream with a palette knife, so the petals sit above the surface as short raised ridges. The canopy fans almost wall to wall, reaching the top corners and dropping nearly to the lower edge on both sides.
The background is built from squared-off blocks of gold, amber and ochre that glow brightest behind the trunk and darken to brown and olive at the edges and along the base. The blocky underpainting reads as light filtering through, while the cool blue foliage sits clearly in front of it. The overall character is calm and decorative, with the contrast of cool blue against warm gold doing most of the work.
Built for a wide wall above a sofa, a sideboard or a bed head. The gold background suits warm neutral rooms, timber furniture and brass or rattan details, while the pale blue leaves pick up blue-grey cushions, linen and ceramics.
