About Golden Path Sunset
A pale sandy track runs from the bottom of the canvas, curving gently to the right and narrowing as it disappears into the light. A low timber rail fence crosses the middle distance, with clumps of autumn trees rising behind it on both sides, their foliage built from short knife strokes of gold, orange and rust. The upper half is a broad yellow sky, brushed smooth apart from a band of near-white horizontal marks where the sun sits low. Green grass, red flower dabs and spiky plants fill the foreground edges.
The paint is laid on thickly with a knife, so the trees and roadside plants carry visible ridges while the sky stays flat and open. It reads as warm and quiet, a late afternoon walk with everything washed in yellow light.
Suits a hallway, entry or stairwell where the vertical format and receding track draw the eye along. Works in warm rooms with timber floors, cane or rattan furniture, cream or clay-toned walls.
