About Autumn Grove Path
A pale pink and cream path sweeps from the lower left corner into the middle of the canvas, where a cluster of slender trees rises against a soft blue sky. The canopies are built from thick knife strokes of scarlet, rust, burnt orange and ochre, with darker maroon at the crowns. Two white birch trunks stand at the left, their bark marked with short black dashes. Low shrubs in yellow, lime and chalky green edge both sides of the track, and flecks of red dot the path surface.
The mood is bright and unfussy: a crisp autumn afternoon rendered in flat, loaded knife strokes rather than fine detail, so colour does most of the work.
Suits a hallway or entry where the path leads the eye down the corridor, and works in living rooms with warm timber floors, linen sofas or cane furniture. The pale sky and pink track sit well on white or soft grey walls, and pair with terracotta pots, brass lamps and rust or mustard cushions.
