About Autumn Birch Grove
A stand of slender birches fills this upright canvas, their white trunks marked with black notches and grey shadow along one edge. Canopies of orange and yellow leaf dabs sit high in the frame against patches of pale blue and soft grey sky. Behind the nearest trunks, warmer reds and rust tones blur into a hazy second row of trees. The ground is laid in with broad palette-knife strokes of gold, amber and orange, broken by darker shadow lines running diagonally from the tree bases toward the lower edge.
Leaves and undergrowth are built from thick, short knife marks that catch light across the surface, while the trunks are drawn in longer, smoother pulls of white paint. The overall character is bright and warm, a forest floor lit by low autumn sun, with enough texture to read clearly from across a room.
Suits a hallway, stairwell or entry where a tall narrow wall needs colour, and works in living rooms with cream, grey or timber walls. The gold and rust tones pair with leather, walnut furniture and woven rugs. Hang it beside a reading chair or above a hall console with a brass lamp.
