About Layers of Winter A
A square composition built from overlapping washes that read as mountain ranges seen through mist. A pale taupe peak rises against white sky at the top, backed by lilac and periwinkle ridges with ragged, feathered edges. Mid-image, bands of sage and deeper teal green sweep across a cream slope, while dusty blue shapes crowd in from both sides. The foreground is a dark plum-brown mass with splayed, bristled edges where the pigment has spread into the fibres of the paper.
The character is quiet and cold, closer to weather than to scenery. Colours stay muted and the edges do all the work, with hard-stopped washes sitting against blooms that have bled softly, so the ranges appear to advance and recede depending on how long you look.
Suits a bedroom above the bed head, a living room with pale walls, or a home office where you want something calm rather than busy. It works with linen upholstery, oak and ash timber, jute rugs and soft grey or white paintwork, and pairs naturally with its companion square print in a two-piece hang.
