A stylised rooster in profile fills the upper two thirds of a solid black background. The comb is a spiky sheet of bright red that sweeps back to the right, and a smaller red wattle hangs below the beak. The neck and chest are off-white with a jagged, feathered edge, and the lower body drops into a blue block.
The tail curls up and over in a hooked blue arc with a pale inner edge. Below the bird, thick rounded orange capitals read 'BITTER' on one line and 'LE COQ' on the next, the second line set larger. The flat colour and blunt, simplified shapes give it a mid-century French advertising feel.
