A single coconut palm bends almost horizontally from the left edge, its pale trunk running across the frame before the fronds spread out on the right against the sky. Behind it, a cluster of taller palms leans in several directions over a stand of dense green tropical growth that fills the left side of the picture.
On the right, shallow water lies flat and pale blue-grey under a soft sky that fades from blue at the top to hazy white near the horizon. A curve of pale sand runs along the bottom left, and a low tree-covered headland extends into the distance. Three or four small swimmers stand in the shallows, and a tiny stilt hut sits far off at the right edge. This is a colour photograph with bright, clear daylight.
