An aerial black and white photograph looks down on the Statue of Liberty from a height just above the torch. The figure stands on her tall stone pedestal, raised arm holding the flame, tablet in the other hand, the crown's rays catching the light. Her robes fall in long, folded lines that show clearly from this angle.
Below the pedestal, the eleven-pointed star of the fort walls spreads out in sharp geometric shapes, with paved paths and stone ramparts in pale grey. Dark trees and a lawn dotted with small groups of visitors sit to the left. Calm water fills the upper half, with a low shoreline and flat land beyond, all in soft tonal greys.
