A two-storey stone lighthouse keeper's house stands near the right of frame, with a small lantern room and railing on top and a thin mast beside it. The grey stone walls and slate-coloured roof catch the last light, and a squat chimney rises from the roof ridge.
A pale sandy path curves up from the bottom centre between rounded green shrubs, leading the eye to the building. Small pink blooms dot the bushes at lower left. Above, streaky clouds glow orange, amber and soft pink, fading to dusky blue-grey at the top. It is a photograph with a warm, calm mood.
