About Love of Circles
Four large ovals sit across a pale silver-grey ground, three clustered low and overlapping in the centre, one raised to the upper right. Each oval is filled with soft grey and sage green washes and outlined twice, once in cobalt blue and once in loose black line, with thin white arcs curving inside them like contour rings. A single long black curve sweeps right across the upper ovals and out to the canvas edge, and a slim black stroke cuts diagonally through the middle shape.
At the top left a flattened ellipse is drawn in black line only, crossed by a vertical stroke, while thin reed-like marks rise from the lower right corner over faint ochre staining. The paint is thin and rubbed back in places so the weave shows through, and the drawing feels deliberately unfinished. It is a quiet, graphic abstract, closer to a chalk study than a bold statement piece.
Suits rooms with a restrained palette: a grey or oatmeal lounge, a bedroom above a linen bedhead, or a home office wall. It works with pale timber, brushed nickel and stone benchtops, and sits well beside black-framed photography. The square format fills a chimney breast or a narrow wall between doorways.
