About Zebra Mother and Foal
Two zebras stand close together against a plain ochre background that shifts from pale gold near the top left to deeper caramel in the lower corners. The adult fills the upper two thirds, head turned to the left in profile, muzzle and nose left in natural black and grey. Its stripes are repainted in bands of magenta, cobalt blue, yellow, green and red, some rendered as rows of small raised dots that catch the light. The mane runs as a short rainbow crest along the neck.
The foal stands in front and lower, head tilted toward the viewer, its shorter stripes in the same red, green, yellow and purple sequence with a tufted rainbow mane. Legs of both animals fade back to ordinary black and white stripes near the ground, which grounds the colour above. The painting reads as a realist animal study pushed into bright pop colour, precise in its drawing and cheerful without being cartoonish.
Suits a child's or teenager's bedroom, a nursery, a playroom or a family hallway that needs colour against white or grey walls. It also works in a consulting room or cafe.
