About Moonlit White Blooms
Two large white blooms fill the square canvas, one opening at upper right and the second, larger flower tilting forward at lower left. Their petals are built from thick white and cream strokes with faint peach and lemon shading in the folds, and each centre holds a ring of lime-green and dark brown stamens tipped with black. Behind them the ground is a soft brushed grey-blue, scratched and scumbled so texture shows through. Gold-brown leaves branch across the top left, and mauve and blue leaf shapes sit faintly at lower right.
The mood is quiet and close-up, more a study of light on petals than a garden scene. The muted grey backdrop keeps all the brightness in the two flowers.
Suits a bedroom above the bedhead, a hallway or an ensuite where the grey backdrop settles against pale walls. Works with linen bedding, warm timber and brushed nickel or black hardware. The square shape fits neatly over a low chest of drawers or between two doorways, and pairs with plain ceramics rather than busy patterns. Browse more floral art, square paintings, popular art.
