A male mallard drake floats left to right across the square, shown side-on with its glossy green head, white neck ring and yellow bill pointing right. His body is built from soft strokes of beige, tan and grey, with a chestnut breast below the collar. A few green reed stems rise behind his head.
The whole scene sits over vertical timber planks with dark seams, cracked finish and scratched, flaking white patches, so it reads as a digital illustration layered on old wood. Warm rust and orange tones fill the water at the bottom. Down the right edge, large stencil-style capitals spell "WATERFOWL" in brown, running top to bottom.
