About Melbourne Beach
A long curve of pale sand runs from the lower right of the frame to a distant headland, with a row of timber bathing boxes lined up along the dune edge. The nearest huts are the largest: one striped in turquoise and white with a yellow door, another in red with a white gable, then blue, green and grey boxes shrinking away into the distance. Shallow water fans across wet sand on the left, breaking into a thin white lace of foam. A deep blue sky fills the upper half with scattered cumulus above the treeline.
The character is bright, clear and distinctly Australian summer: strong midday light, saturated primary colours against soft sand tones, and an uncluttered horizon that keeps the eye travelling along the row of huts.
Suits a coastal or beach-house living room, a hallway that needs length, or a bedroom above the bed head. Works with white walls, timber furniture, rattan and linen, and picks up blue, red or yellow cushions. Good in a home office where a bright window-like view is useful.
