About Melbourne Spencer Station

A domed sandstone station building holds the centre of the frame, its arched entrance glowing green and gold, with a large clock face above the doors and a slender spire rising from the copper-toned dome. Behind and to the left, glass office towers and a tall blue high-rise catch the last light, their windows lit in small yellow squares. The sky is deep cobalt blue, streaked with soft grey cloud, and overhead tram wires cut fine diagonal lines across it.

Along the bottom, a long exposure turns passing traffic into sweeping white and amber light trails that curve across the intersection. A green and white tram waits at the left kerb, and a street lamp flares bright on the right beside a bicycle and a handful of figures on the footpath. The character is calm but busy: a familiar city corner caught in the few minutes when the sky still holds colour and the lights have already taken over.
