A high-angle black and white photograph looks down over Midtown Manhattan at night. Dense blocks of skyscrapers fill the frame, their office windows glowing in rows of bright white against deep charcoal shadow. A narrow avenue runs diagonally through the left of the picture, picked out by a line of street lights.
In the upper right, the Chrysler Building's lit spire stands out among the towers, and a sign reading "MetLife" is visible near the top of a tall building in the centre. The city's lights stretch to a hazy horizon under a dark sky. Fine grain and strong contrast give the scene a crisp, graphic texture.
