About Cobalt Mosaic
A loose grid of hand-drawn dark brown lines divides the canvas into uneven tiles, each one filled with a different weight of blue: deep cobalt at the top left and centre right, dusty slate through the middle band, and cooler grey-blue squares lower down. Two cream-white blocks cut vertically through the left of centre, and a small pale rectangle outlined like a shuttered window sits just above the middle. Warm accents interrupt the cold palette, a rust-orange stripe top left, olive and ochre patches at the right edge and lower corner.
The surface is built up thickly, with a sandy, plaster-like grain that catches light and makes each tile read as a weathered wall panel rather than flat colour. The grid lines bend and sag slightly, so the whole plane seems to curve. Its character is quiet and architectural, closer to a sun-worn painted wall or a stained-glass frame than to a hard-edged geometric abstract.
Works well in a hallway, home office or bedroom where the cool blues can sit against white, pale grey or limewashed walls. The cream blocks and rust flecks pick up timber furniture, linen upholstery and woven rugs. Hang it alone on a square wall panel, above a sideboard, or beside a chair and floor lamp.
