A large wave breaks against the end of a curved stone pier, throwing a tall plume of white spray high into the sky. The small white hut, named in the supplier data as the Monkey Hut at Portreath on the Cornwall coast, stands at the centre of the frame just in front of the burst of water.
The pier wall is built from dark, weathered stone blocks with a thin metal railing running along its edge. The sea in the foreground is choppy and teal-green, and a second wave rolls in from the left. Soft grey clouds fill the sky, with pale rays of light breaking through the blue above the horizon. This is a photograph.
