About Nobbys Lighthouse
A photographic view across open water towards a tall sandstone headland on the right, capped by a small white lighthouse tower with a red-brown roof and a slender radio mast beside it. Below the cliff a curve of pale sand runs back into the bay, with low green scrub and grass on the slopes above. Lines of surf roll in from the left, breaking into white foam over dark blue-green water. In the lower right corner a breakwall of angular grey, rust and ochre boulders leads the eye into the frame.
The sky fills the top half with strong, even blue, thinning to a band of small white clouds along the horizon. It reads as a clear, windy summer day on the Newcastle coast, plain and unstaged.
Suits a beach house hallway, a living room with white or pale timber walls, or a bedroom above the bed head. Works with rattan, linen and weathered timber, and pairs well with other coastal or surf photography. In a home office it gives a clear blue focal point against neutral paint and grey carpet.
