About Night City Lightning
Shot from a hillside above the rooftops, this photograph looks across a city at night while a storm breaks overhead. Three forked bolts of lightning drop from a towering bank of cloud and touch down behind a cluster of mid-rise apartment blocks, lighting the cloud edges silver and staining the whole sky indigo and violet. Below the horizon line, streets and windows glow amber and white, with scattered green signals among them. The foreground is dark suburban housing, tiled roofs and heavy tree canopies rimmed by streetlight.
The character here is tension: a still, ordinary suburb in the lower half and a sky splitting open above it. Detail holds in both the bright bolts and the deep shadowed trees.
Suits a home office, media room or hallway where the dark sky can sit against a pale wall. Works with charcoal and navy upholstery, black steel shelving, timber desks and brass or amber lamps.
