About Ocean Wind Surfing
A windsurfer stands with his back to the viewer, arms raised to the boom, leaning into a tall sail that fills the upper left of the picture. The sail is built from broad panels of yellow, purple, soft green and pale blue, edged with a red mast and batten lines. Below him the board runs white with red and yellow flashes along its nose, cutting a wake of churned white water. The sea moves from turquoise in the foreground to deep marine blue at the horizon, under a pale, hazy sky.
The mood is bright and active, caught mid-run rather than posed. Loose, blocky strokes of colour give the water movement and keep the figure simple and anonymous.
