Two clusters of bare trees rise from the bottom edge of a square frame, their branches drawn in near-black against a flat, solid ochre-yellow sky. The thick trunks on the left and right split into hundreds of fine twigs, and the tips are dotted with small buds.
There is no gradient and no visible horizon, so the picture reads as a graphic, screen-print style silhouette rather than a realistic photograph. A gap of open yellow between the two trees pulls the eye upward. The dense, tangled branch work at the bottom contrasts with the clean empty colour at the top.
