A potted orchid fills the centre of this watercolour. Two slim brown stems arch up from a terracotta pot, carrying pink blooms with deep magenta throats and soft cream and apricot edges. Small pink flecks of pigment are scattered around the upper flowers, which gives the petals a loose, wet look.
Behind the plant, a wash of violet and cornflower blue runs down the page in pale drips and soft blooms of colour. A strip of turquoise and green hangs down the left edge. Broad olive and sage leaves curl across the bottom, and the pot is a warm brick red that grounds the cooler tones above.
