A single wolf walks left to right across a plain cream background, built from torn and cut pieces of paper that look like watercolour washes. The back, shoulders and ears are slate grey with a speckled, mottled surface, while the pale face has a darker grey muzzle and a small black nose.
The belly, haunches and legs are layered patches of soft tan and sand, with a few darker ochre pieces on the chest and hip that show a grainy, salt-like texture. The tail tapers to a grey tip with a small ochre patch at its base. Edges are crisp and slightly uneven, and the wolf has no shadow, so it floats in open space.
