About Paradise Bird
A single peacock fills the upper right of a tall canvas, its head turned in profile with a small crest of green dots above a white-ringed eye and a dark beak. The neck and breast are painted in blue-green and deep violet, while the wing carries a rounded patch of orange and gold flecked with white dots. From there the tail sweeps down and to the left in long, loose strokes of magenta, purple, emerald, orange and yellow, tapering into fine points near the lower edge.
The background is left mostly bare in warm cream and pale grey, with a soft grey shadow behind the bird and flicks of white and green spatter across the paint. Brushwork is fast and gestural, the tail feathers laid down in single pulls of colour rather than detail. The result is a bright, decorative bird study that reads as pure colour from a distance.
Suits an entry hall, a bedroom above a low chest, or a dining room wall where the cream background can sit against pale paint.
