A black and white photograph of a flight of stone steps climbing a gentle rise in a park. The steps zigzag upward, broken by a landing partway up, and disappear toward a second short flight near the crest. Large boulders and rock outcrops sit beside the path, with fallen leaves scattered over the grass.
Two cast-iron lamp posts frame the stairs, one tall and close on the right with a glass lantern, the other smaller and farther back on the left. Bare winter trees fill the upper half, their branches forming a dense web against a pale, overcast sky. Tones run from deep charcoal in the steps to soft grey in the background, with a fine film-like grain.
