About Peace Petals
Large cream and ivory blooms fill the canvas edge to edge, cropped by the borders so petals run off all four sides. Two open magnolia-like flowers anchor the lower left and upper right, each with a dense centre of rust, ochre and brown stamens. A closed peony bud sits at the right, and a small pale flower with a green-black eye appears upper left. Slim olive and sage leaves thread between them. Behind it all is a flat turquoise ground, scrubbed and streaked so lighter blue-white patches show through like weathered paint.
The petals are laid in broad soft strokes, with grey and buff shadows giving weight without hard outlines. It reads as calm and open rather than busy, despite the crowded blooms.
Suits bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways where the turquoise can lift a plain wall. Works above a white or pale timber bedhead, beside linen bedding, cane or rattan furniture, and coastal palettes.
