A peacock stands on the left with its back to us, its long tail sweeping down the full height of the poster in blues, greens and burnt orange, each feather marked with an eye. The bird turns its blue neck and crested head toward a slim bottle of cognac with a cream label, set on a pale stone ledge.
Behind them is a green trellised dome or conservatory, with clusters of red roses on the left and a soft green landscape under an orange sky on the right. Bold red capitals on the ledge read "COGNAC" and "JACQUET". Small printer's text runs up the left edge and a signature sits in the bottom right corner. The flat colour and heavy outlines give it an early twentieth-century advertising feel.
