Seven ripe yellow-green pears fill a silver pedestal bowl, their brown stems pointing up and out. Several pears carry small green leaves, and one leaf droops over the bowl's rim at the front. The fruit has soft shading and a smooth, slightly glowing skin, with a small dark blemish on the round pear at the left.
The bowl is drawn in grey and white with a beaded rim, a band of small leaf motifs and a fluted foot. Behind it, a mottled wash of lilac, grey and pale green sits inside a square border of grey scrolls and round studs. The cream edges show faint canvas weave, giving a softly aged, tile-like look.
