About Perch Rock Lighthouse
A white stone lighthouse stands slightly left of centre on a dark rock base, its lantern room capped with a small black dome and weather vane. Behind it the sky is full of broken cloud lit from below, shifting from deep charcoal and purple overhead to burnt orange, gold and pale yellow along the horizon. A low dark seawall or breakwater runs to the left edge. The foreground is wet, ridged sand, its ripples catching amber and violet light and holding thin sheets of standing water.
The mood is quiet and open rather than dramatic, with the tower reading as a pale vertical line against a wide burning sky. Detail is sharp from the sand ripples in the foreground through to the cloud edges, giving the image real depth.
Suits beach houses and coastal-style living rooms, and works well in a bedroom above a bed or in a home office where a wide horizontal wall needs filling.
