About Perfect Shades
A single row of tall slender trees runs from the right edge of the canvas back towards the left, shrinking to small dark marks where the line meets the horizon. The foliage is dabbed in broken greys and whites so the crowns read as airy rather than solid, with bare trunks showing through as thin vertical strokes. Above them, banked cumulus is built in thick soft-edged whites against deep charcoal, filling roughly two thirds of the picture. The flat field below is brushed in even mid-grey with faint horizontal drag marks and a pale shadow line beneath the trees.
The whole painting is worked in greys, whites and near-black, with no colour at all. It is quiet and weather-driven, the kind of open farmland view that reads as a still moment just before or after rain.
Suits rooms where colour is already set by furniture and rugs: a grey or white living room, a bedroom with linen bedding, or a hallway that needs depth without competition.
