Two slender tree trunks lean slightly as they climb the left side of a tall portrait canvas. At the top, a broad canopy of olive and brown foliage spreads across the width, broken by small patches of pale sky and flecks of red. One thin bare branch reaches out to the right, ending in a tuft of needles.
Below the canopy, most of the picture is a flat, softly textured field of sage green and grey, like mist or still water. A low bank of dark grass and scrubby bushes with scattered red dots and white specks runs along the bottom edge. The surface looks worn and layered, with a muted, earthy palette.
