A field of red poppies fills the lower half of the image, each bloom a bold round blob of crimson with a small yellow centre. They sit in thick, textured strokes of mustard grass, with patches of violet, magenta and green mixed through the undergrowth. The flowers get larger and more spaced out toward the bottom edge.
On the upper left, a cluster of weathered stone houses with red-tiled roofs sits on a rise, flanked by two rounded pines and a dark cypress. To the right, rocky hills glow in gold and purple under a pale apricot dusk sky. Two more cypress trees stand against the cliff. The colours are warm and saturated, with a signature at the lower left.
