About Private Room
Two tall, faceless figures stand near the centre of the canvas, painted in soft bronze and dark brown with long tapering legs and one arm lifted above the head. Their bodies are simplified to smooth curves and narrow waists, with no detail beyond the silhouette. Behind them the canvas is divided into flat blocks: a deep red panel down the left edge, a wide cream and yellow field through the middle, pale grey at upper right, and a block of indigo blue at lower right.
A third figure appears as a ghosted outline pressed into the red panel on the left, echoing the same raised-arm pose. A small rectangle of ridged gold texture sits over the blue block. Brushwork is smooth and blended in the backgrounds, with visible tooth and scratched lines in the textured patches. The painting reads as quiet and rhythmic, a study of movement held still against geometry.
Suits a lounge room, hallway or bedroom with warm neutral walls, timber furniture and woven rugs. The indigo block gives it a link to navy cushions or upholstery, while the bronze figures sit well with brass lamps, leather and terracotta pots. Good as a single tall piece above a sideboard or console. Browse more abstract oil paintings, the Statton Collection, earthy tones.
