A single alligator lies side-on across the sheet, its head at the right and its long tail curving down to the lower left. The body is built from loose washes of cobalt blue, teal and sage green, with darker pooled pigment along the back and tail where the colour settles.
Fine dark pencil-like lines pick out the eye, jaw, toes and ridged back, while the rest stays soft and bleeding. Flecks of green and blue spatter the pale cream paper, and a patch of amber and ochre wash sits beneath the belly like warm ground. A small signature sits at lower right.
