About Rough Rider
A motocross rider climbs out of a churned clay bank, front wheel lifted clear of the ground and the machine angled up to the right. The rider wears a blue jersey and a white helmet with an orange visor, body tucked low over the bars. The bike is blocked in with orange, white and deep blue strokes, the spoked wheels drawn in quick dark lines. Behind, a haze of lilac, grey-blue and dusty violet sits between rust-red clouds of kicked-up dirt.
The lower third is built from thick palette-knife slabs of red oxide, burnt orange, cream and black, reading as broken ground and flung earth. Paint is loose and directional, with flecks and spatter suggesting speed rather than detail. It is an energetic, fast-reading picture that keeps the action clear from across a room.
Suits a games room, home bar, teenager's bedroom or garage-style workshop wall. The red-clay tones sit well with timber, exposed brick and black steel shelving, and the blue jersey picks up denim and navy upholstery. Hang it above a pool table, a couch or a desk where motorsport gear and trophies are already on show. Browse more sports and games room art, all hand-painted oil paintings.
