A single tall palm rises up the centre of a cream, aged-looking page, its slender ringed trunk widening slightly at the base and standing on a small mound of ground. At the top, long feathered fronds fan out in every direction around a pointed central spear, with small clusters of fruit tucked beneath the crown. The linework is fine black hatching.
At lower left sits a royal coat of arms, a crowned shield held by a lion and a unicorn. Below it, looping script reads "To His Royal Highness FREDERICK, Prince of Wales, This Plate is most humbly Inscribid &c." Small page marks read "Plate IV." at top left and "p. iii" at top right, with a tiny engraver's line at lower right. The palette is sepia, cream and black.
