About Rural
A wide valley opens across the canvas, lit by a low amber sun that streaks the sky with apricot, cream and pale gold. On the left a small hill village sits among round-headed trees, its white walls capped with terracotta roofs and a square bell tower. Slim cypresses stand in a row beside a second cluster of buildings. The middle ground is given to broad ploughed fields in olive, tan and brown, curving in long bands toward a green ridge on the right dotted with red blossom.
In the foreground a long white farmhouse with a red tiled roof is half-hidden by dense green foliage, and a taller villa with arched windows stands to the right beneath a group of cypresses. Paint is laid in soft blended sweeps across the sky and fields, with thicker dabbed strokes in the trees and shrubs. The mood is warm and settled, an ordinary farming valley at the end of a hot day.
Suits a dining room, hallway or living room with warm neutrals, timber furniture and terracotta or jute textures. It sits well above a sideboard or a long dining table, and works with country-style interiors, cream walls and rattan or wrought-iron pieces.
