A single seahorse fills the upper two thirds of this portrait image, its curled snout pointing right and its spiny, ridged body drawn in tan, ochre and brown with fine dark linework. A small translucent fin sits behind its neck, and the tail curves down towards the lower left corner.
A curved waterline cuts across the middle, pale aqua above and deeper teal and blue below. Thin, tangled strands of seaweed in navy, green and grey rise through the lower water, and washy blotches of white and blue give the background a soft watercolour texture. The tail ends near the bottom edge.
