A weathered timber jetty runs straight from the bottom edge to the horizon, its boards and handrail pulling the eye toward a distant point. A timber post and the long rail fill the right foreground, with the grain of the wood clearly visible. The square format keeps the jetty centred.
The water is smoothed to a milky grey by a long exposure, and dark, streaked cloud sits low over the horizon. A collapsed set of steps slopes into the water on the left, while a second pier runs along the left horizon and bright white posts glow on the right. It is a black and white photograph.
