A broad, low horizon splits the picture about two thirds of the way down. Above it, layered clouds sweep across the canvas in loose, dry brushstrokes, running from slate grey on the left to pale blue and soft white on the right. A small bright break sits just above centre where the sun filters through.
Below the horizon, a wide flat stretch of beach and shallow water fills the lower third in creams, soft peach and warm sand tones. A pool of white light reflects on the wet surface beneath the sun, and a thin dark strip of land touches the right edge. The look is a muted, textured painting with no figures or boats.
