About Retro Pod Strings
A square canvas washed in warm ochre and mustard carries seven or eight pointed oval pods, each suspended from a thin vertical line that runs the full height of the picture. The pods on the left are chalk white, two of them overlapping so the ochre ground shows through the join. At centre sits the largest pod, charcoal black and finely ribbed with horizontal combing that catches the light. To the right, smaller black discs sit like beads on a dark thread, with a single white circle floating near the lower edge.
This is a quiet, graphic painting: the geometry is orderly, but the scraped ochre ground and raised ribbed texture keep it warm and handmade rather than flat.
Suits a living room or hallway with timber furniture, rattan or tan leather, where the ochre ground can pick up warm floors. The square format works above a sideboard, a low bench or a bedhead, and pairs well with black metal lamps, linen cushions and simple white walls.
