About Silver Blossom Bouquet
A small glass tumbler sits low in the square canvas, holding four stems of pale silver-grey flowers. The largest bloom opens wide at centre left, its ribbed petals edged in soft lilac and white around a tight orange and yellow centre. Above it a closed bud leans left on a slim stem, a second open flower tilts to the upper right with faint pink shading, and a single curved petal droops to the right. The background is a wash of warm brown and olive that lightens to pale gold down the left edge.
Brushwork is smooth and blended in the background, with thicker loaded strokes shaping the petal ridges and small dabs of orange in the flower centres. The effect is quiet and slightly faded, closer to a decorative still life than a botanical study.
Suits a dining room sideboard, a bedroom above a low bed head, or a hallway where the warm brown background can pick up timber floors and tan leather. It works with cream or greige walls, brushed nickel and glass lamps, and linen upholstery in oatmeal or dove grey. Browse more modern art, square paintings, all hand-painted oil paintings.
