About Earthen Circles
Three broad vertical bands curve up the square canvas: a cream column on the left, a soft taupe band through the centre and a warm ochre field on the right, each edge drawn with a thin dark brown line. The surface is built up with textured plaster-like paint that catches light in trowel marks, scrapes and small ridges. Over the top sit loose circular outlines — a tangle of dark brown loops at lower left and a larger pale grey-white ring crossing the centre and right side.
The effect is calm and earthy, more about surface and material than image. The scribbled circles keep it informal rather than decorative.
Suits neutral rooms with timber, linen and rattan: above a low sideboard in a hallway, in a bedroom over the bed head, or on a plain wall in a sitting room. Pairs with cream upholstery, oak floors and clay or stone pottery. The square format works well over a square-backed armchair or bedside setting.
