About Sundown II
A square landscape lit by a low sun. The upper half is a burnt-orange and amber sky with horizontal bands of cloud that soften to pale gold and near-white at the horizon. On the left, a slim-trunked tree carries a rounded rust-coloured canopy; on the right, a heavier group of trees in copper and deep brown crowds the edge, with a smaller golden tree between them. A pale, winding creek runs from the middle distance to the foreground, catching soft blue and cream reflections between banks of dry gold and brown grasses.
The mood is quiet and warm rather than dramatic, the light thick and hazy the way it is just before dusk. Edges are blended and slightly blurred, so the trees and distant scrub read as soft masses of colour instead of sharp detail, and the water surface stays smooth and glassy.
Suits living rooms and bedrooms with warm neutral, tan or cream walls, and works over a leather sofa, a timber sideboard or a bedhead. The orange and brown range sits well with rattan, jute rugs, terracotta pots and brass lamps. The square shape fills a chimney breast or a single wall between windows, and it pairs with a matching sunset print.
