This photograph looks straight up the trunk of a broad-leaved tree, shot from the base so the bark runs diagonally from the lower right toward the centre. Branches fan out in all directions, thin and dark, forming a web against the sky. The leaves look like maple, lobed and layered across the whole frame.
The sun sits near the upper left, breaking through the foliage in a soft white glow with faint rays. Light turns the leaves a vivid lime and yellow-green, while those in shadow along the right edge are deeper green. The sky is a saturated, cloudless blue that shows through the gaps, and the contrast between blue and green is the main feature.
