About Sunny
Three wooden chairs stand in a loose row on pale sand, all turned away from the viewer and facing the water. The chair on the left is painted white with teal stripes and sits at an angle, the middle chair carries broad yellow and navy stripes across its curved back, and the right-hand chair is white with soft blue-grey stripes. A yellow and white life ring leans against the sand beside it. Tufts of blue-green grass grow at the lower left corner.
Beyond the chairs a flat band of deep blue sea meets a high, cloud-filled sky brushed in lavender and grey, with two small sails on the horizon. Long violet-brown shadows stretch forward across the foreground. The paint is applied in loose, visible strokes, thickest on the chair slats and the grass. The mood is quiet and unhurried, a seat kept empty on a breezy afternoon.
Suits a coastal or holiday-house interior: above a sideboard in an open-plan living room, in a hallway with white walls, or in a bedroom with linen bedding.
