About Sunrise Stag
A square composition holds a single stag standing in profile, head turned slightly toward the viewer, filled with blocks of colour rather than solid form. A band of cobalt blue runs across the shoulders, a wide amber-gold stripe crosses the body, and mint green and cream shapes break up the neck and hindquarters. The antlers spread wide at the top in soft peach, pale blue and buttermilk patches. Thin vertical drips run down through the chest, and the legs fade to pale yellow near the ground.
The background is a mottled wash of warm grey, cloudy white and faded green, scratched and rubbed back so it reads like an aged wall. The stag feels quiet and half-dissolved into that surface, more mood than wildlife study.
Works above a bed with linen in oatmeal or grey, or over a sideboard in a dining room. The amber and cobalt lift pale grey and greige walls, and it suits beach house, coastal and contemporary rooms.
